Using Barcodes to Index Documents

You can create a cover page of bar codes using data from your application screens that are linked to your scanned documents. A function key or the enter key can be defined to pass information directly from the green screen into the LaserVault DMS.

The system administrator sets up a certain function key as the action key that will pull information off the screen and put it into the imaging system as indexes for the documents that will later be scanned. 

The barcode represents both the database and the record ID in the imaging system that the scanned image is to be sent to. When the user presses the function key, a unique record is created in the imaging database that will automatically be assigned to whatever document you attach the barcode to.

After scanning in your documents, LaserVault Imaging will read the barcodes and automatically index the scanned documents for quick and easy retrieval.
