LaserVault Develops File Retention for LaserVault Imaging

LaserVault has just developed a file retention feature for its imaging system. “Having developed file retention for our report archiving system,” says company President Brad Jensen, “We decided to expand that functionality to our imaging system as well. Our systems are now powerful and flexible enough to fully mimic litigation prevention measures previously done by hand”. Administrators for both systems will now be able to set up and execute retention schedules, which helps to insure legal compliance and reduce liability.

The file retention feature will be available to all LaserVault Imaging customers currently on support, and will be bundled along with the system at no additional cost. “We will continue to provide almost all upgrades for free,” explains Sales Manager Ax Synar, “the watchwords for IT now are ‘Value’ and ‘Implementation’. We aim to provide both with inexpensive systems, virtually free customization, and a money-back guarantee twice as long as the industry standard’. File retention for LaserVault Imaging is part of an ongoing company initiative to expand functionality without increasing cost to the customer.

Why was file retention for imaging more difficult than for a report archiving system? “Because,” answers LaserVault programmer Les Stockton, “with an imaging system the electronic archive date might not coincide with the actual date that the document was created”, since implementation often involves scanning a backlog of documents that can span years. “LaserVault Imaging responds to that age discrepancy by providing a maximum of flexibility in defining indexing fields,” explains Les, “but we had to include that added functionality in how our file retention module defines its retention schedule. It was a little more complex of a job than the retention feature we added to LaserVault Reports.”

This feature is now available for customers to download over the net as part of a general upgrade.

LaserVault provides document management systems that are famous for being fast, easy-to-use, and inexpensive. Increasing system functionality while maintaining price and service is the company’s number one goal.
