CHALLENGES
Foster’s Foods, based in the Cayman Islands, has been on a steady expansion route since it was founded in 1980. It’s survived hurricanes, and in 2014 it was named the IGA International Retailer of the Year. In 2019 it was rebranded, now called “Foster’s.”
So it’s not surprising that this growing company would need to enhance its computer system as well, because tape backups were too labor-intensive and time consuming to handle and keep up with business demands. Their goal was to eliminate their dependency on using physical tape.
SOLUTION
Foster’s chose LaserVault ViTL to solve its backup management needs for their IBM Power 9. Foster’s backs up approximately 2 TB nightly and use ViTL in conjunction with their ExaGrid appliance for deduplication and replication.
